Jacksonville, located on the St. John’s River in the northeast corner of Florida, is known as the Gateway City to Florida and deservedly so, for major airline, rail and highway systems route through the city. It is also a port city with heavy shipping and docking facilities. Two large naval installations are located here – Jacksonville Naval Air Station and Mayport Naval Station.

Culturally, the city is well–endowed and growing. Jacksonville University, a private liberal arts university; the University of North Florida; Edward Waters College; and Florida Community College at Jacksonville are all located in the city. Museums, a symphony orchestra, state-of-the-art performing arts center and an excellent library system are important aspects of the city. It is also a very sports-minded city, as home of the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars, the Gator Bowl, and The Players Championship golf tournament. We have also become an international medical center, anchored by a satellite of the Mayo Clinic.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is located approximately six miles south of downtown Jacksonville in Ortega, one of the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods, a stone’s throw from the St. John’s River.
